
To help offset the overall impact of the ongoing Russia-Ukraine war on the country’s garment exports, Bangladesh Government could pay additional incentives for export of non-cotton apparel items.
This has been claimed by media reports which added a file was sent in this regard recently from the Commerce Ministry to the Finance Ministry, recommending at least 5 per cent additional cash incentive for the shipment of MMF-based apparels.
Meanwhile, speaking to the media, Senior Secretary of the Commerce Ministry Tapan Kanti Ghosh, reportedly, maintained the move is aimed at giving some relief to exporters facing difficulties owing to the war even as he also, reportedly, added ‘it is the right time to pay additional cash incentive on the export of MMF-made garments in order to accelerate garment shipment from Bangladesh and overcome the impacts of the war.’
