Balenciaga has confirmed that its Creative Director, Alexander Wang is leaving the house and that this split is mutual. Alexander took reigns of the company in late 2012 and even though the sale growth was positive, he failed to reap the critical acclaim bestowed on its predecessor, Nicolas Ghesquiere. “Balenciaga and Alexander Wang today announced their joint decision not to renew their contract. Since 2012, Alexander Wang has stood at the creative helm of the maison and has been instrumental in the pursuit of its development. Balenciaga and Kering would like to thank Alexander Wang for his accomplishments,” the French fashion house said in a statement. The Spring/Summer 2016 show on October 2nd will be his final for the label. The NY-based designer hinted that he wants to now focus on his own label, and which was the reason behind his departure.
