
According to the released data by OTEXA, brassieres import of USA fell by 23.03 per cent in January 2020 on Y-o-Y basis and valued at US $ 184.57 million as against US $ 239.79 million in January 2019.
The major downfall was recorded from China’s side which slumped drastically by 39.56 per cent to export US $ 65.75 million worth of brassieres. Markedly, the share of China in total brassieres import value of USA has been reduced to 35.62 per cent in January 2020 from 45.37 per cent from a year earlier.
Not just China, all major brassieres exporting destinations to USA tumbled in their respective export to USA including Vietnam, Sri Lanka, Indonesia, India and Cambodia.
Vietnam clocked US $ 30.12 million in brassieres export to USA in January 2020 and fell 7.20 per cent. Sri Lanka (down 12.79 per cent), Indonesia (down 13.66 per cent), India (down 64.58 per cent) and Cambodia (down 2.15 per cent) exported brassieres to USA worth US $ 22 million, US $ 15 million, US $ 3 million and US $ 2.80 million, respectively.

Despite heavy ruckus in the global apparel market caused in January due to COVID-19, Bangladesh, Thailand and Honduras managed to surge in their respective export to USA of brassieres.
Bangladesh steered its growth to 29.08 per cent to ship US $ 14.04 million worth of brassieres to USA in January 2020, while Thailand grew significantly by 35.52 per cent to export US $ 11.75 million worth of brassieres to USA.
Honduras noted marginal growth of 2.16 per cent in its brassieres export to USA and clocked US $ 4.31 million revenue in the first month of 2020.
