
During the year 2016, European Union (EU) recorded surge in its global trousers import both in value and volume terms. India, Bangladesh and Vietnam registered positive export of trousers to EU on Y-o-Y basis.
In its value-wise trousers exports, India registered rise of 4.50 per cent to € 670.10 million, whereas quantities were up by 8.87 per cent to 40.60 million kgs as compared to € 641.26 million value and 37.29 million kgs quantity in the corresponding period last year.
Bangladesh too rose in value-wise trousers export to EU by an impressive 9.65 per cent to € 4605.29 million versus € 4200.12 million in the year 2015. During the same period, the country registered growth in quantities also which settled at 12.91 per cent to 338.05 million kgs as against 299.40 million kgs in 2015.

In 2016, Vietnam was also a positive gainer in its trousers export to EU as the country was up in value terms by 5.89 per cent to € 655.16 million as against € 618.73 million during the review period in 2015. Volume-wise the country managed to touch 4.28 per cent change to 34.61 million kgs versus 33.19 million kgs year-on-year.
