Keeping ‘Automation’ at the core of its offering to the apparel and textile industry, Smart Technology, since its establishment in 2007 has become a complete solution provider for the apparel industry and has recently ventured into solutions for the textile industry also. “People have now understood the significance of automated machines and solutions, hence are seriously looking forward towards the same. This is also necessary, as even in a country with abundant labour, skilled labour is still very limited,” reasons Suvashis Paul, CEO, Smart Technology. The company has recently launched its own brand of Pneumatic Snap Button Attaching machines, under the name of Smart-tech. “These machines are assembled indigenously at our factory in Dhaka, and we are able to offer a lower price and better service due to nature of manufacturing being local,” states Suvashis Paul.
Although the company is currently manufacturing 35 Snap Button Attaching machines per month, it aims to manufacture double the number if the infrastructure and energy problems are solved. Standard, Hameem and EBL Group are among the top clients of the company in the country, and washing machines from Tonello, Dryers from Triveneta and Lab dyeing machines from Ugolini are among the most sought-after solutions from Smart Technology.
Tonello offering G1 OFREE washing machine, is capable of performing special oxidation treatments using a gas generator. The G1 OFREE achieves ‘used look’ effects on indigo garments, effects that can be adjusted depending on the type of application; the machine is completely automatic thus ensuring control and reproducibility in every process. The machine comes in three variants with a pre-extractor, high speed extractor and another for sampling purposes.
Triveneta Grandi Impanti is the Italian pioneer providing a wide range of dryers and tumblers. Among the dryers, four types are manufactured by the company, namely, fixed, tilting, double tilting and pass through. The machines are compliant to international norms and provided with some safety devices according to the CE regulations and are also provided with digital electronic instruments for the control of the times and of the temperatures of the cycle. Since the country faces energy problems, all the models utilize either steam or gas or diathermic oil for heating.
Ugolini SRL offers a vast range of products for the textile industry worldwide, including dyeing machines, laboratory apparatus, stainless steel accessories for dyeing, machines for drying, for Hydro-extraction (centrifugal machines) and solutions for dyeing automation. Among the mentioned solutions, the SP SIMPLEX Lab Dyeing machine from the company has been doing quite good in Bangladesh. The High Temperature High Pressure Dyeing machine working in air-pad mode can dye yarns, hanks, fabrics, tops, zippers, ribbons and loose fibres. The machine has a range from 100 grams to 1.5 kg of material, and uses optimum liquor ratio which can be customized from 1:4 to 1:20 and remains constant changing load from minimum to maximum.
Although the textile industry in the country is at a nascent stage, but Suvashish Paul believes that in the coming 10-15 years with improvement in the infrastructure and power supply the textile industry would at least come up to the level of captive consumption.
