Ludhiana-based Hitech International, a sister concern of Jindal Precision Machinery, is in the process of setting up its first machinery production unit for making fully computerized flat-knitting machines in India.
The unit, which is being set up with an investment of Rs 25 crore, is expected to produce its first batch of machines within the next four months, company sources said.
The company aims to export these machines to Bangladesh, Nepal, and some of the European countries and even China as well. The company will initially manufacturer 50 machines a month. In the next two years, it gradually increase the number to 300 machines per month. It will also create awareness among potential users, in order to boost sales of the machine.

Jogesh Jindal, Director of the company told Apparel Resources, “We are inspired by the Make In India campaign. Having an experience of 30 years in the knitting industry, we are into selling high-technology CNC machines from Germany. We have well-trained engineers and technical tie-ups in China; our software is also from China, but our engineering is better than China. So machine-making is not a difficult thing. Our strengths will make it possible for us to offer machines at comparatively less price (at least 30 per cent) than China. I have seen many factories in China for flat knitting machines, but only one or two have good plants. We are installing Japanese and German machines to make our flat-knitting machines. We are telling to the users that they should use fully computerized flat-knit machines rather than power flat or such other modal. As far as export of our machines is concerned, Bangladesh is a big market for us. Our quality will be one of the major reasons of our success.”
The company claims to have done good research and development and its strong networking in European countries will help establish a good market in the continent.
