Union Minister for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprise, Kalraj Mishra, who defines ‘khadi’ as a statement fabric for lifestyle and values, declared the gates of PMEGP North-East Expo open and also launched Khadi denim. Products such as denim jeans, jackets, skirts, etc., designed by graduates from NIFT and other professional designers, have been put up for sale at the expo.
In the first phase of the PMEGP exhibition, small entrepreneurs from North-East will be displaying products made of cane, bamboo, Munga silk, and Endi silk, along with other handicraft products.
The Minister also educed the Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s call to buy at least one khadi products because of which the fabric’s sales surged by 60 per cent.
