Growing RMG export from Bangladesh gives overseas technology suppliers an opportunity to capitalize on and they also appear all geared up to cash-in on the same. Foo Toon Pow, Focus Garment Tech, (Nisho Apparel Machinery) Singapore told Apparel Resources, “In the last few years, Bangladesh has improved a lot as it has adopted a lot of automation. I visited many factories across the country and many big groups manufacturing jeans do have huge expansion plans. I believe that in next two years, jeans manufacturing in Bangladesh is going to boom. Huge orders, which were earlier going to China, are now coming to Bangladesh as last year China closed 70,000 factories. It is good to see that Bangladesh is investing more in advanced technology; you name any automatic machine, and they are installing all of those. In next 5 years, Bangladesh is going to be the No. 1 exporter of garments.”
Pow further added that his company is not only selling machines to the RMG manufacturers but is also giving them complete solutions, which is enabling them to increase productivity and reduce manpower requirement.
