Environment protection and safeguarding of resources is the top priority of both the manufacturers of sewing machines and the users around the world. Duerkopp Adler, German manufacturers of sewing machines, defined its environmental guidelines ten years ago and has now intensified measures to make its products even more environment-friendly by introducing its Premium Machine Class 281, the new generation high speed sewing machine, which has set new standards with an energy-saving, and a service-free DC sewing drive integrated in the machine head.
The company took this measure because the production of sheet metal requires a surface treatment called galvanization and also hardening treatment. These processes are not only energy-intensive, but also produce toxic substances. Moreover, the company has reduced the share of mechanical parts. Thus, less material is needed, which has a positive effect on the energy balance.
[bleft]“The maximum power consumption is reached when accelerating. For this reason, it would be of little significance to let the high speed sewing machine run at full power for half an hour and then let it stand idle for half an hour. When the machine is running at full speed, it needs lesser energy than during the acceleration phase” – Frank Pannwitz, Project Manager, Duerkopp Adler[/bleft]
The 281 Premium has an integrated energy saving sewing drive and is characterised by particularly quiet and soft running. Furthermore, the machine reaches a very high sewing speed of up to 5000 stitches/min. The machine has been developed for universal use (shirts, trousers, denim, jackets, etc). The oil-free machine head available in the versions ‘Semi-Dry-Head’ (with hook lubrication) and ‘Dry- Head’ (without hook lubrication) avoids stains on the fabric and also guarantees a cleaner workplace.
Designed ergonomically, all functions are key placed within easy reach of the operator, e.g. the push-button for manual backtacking and hand-wheel for setting the sewing foot pressure. Apart from the thread nipper for a neat seam beginning, the thread trimmer, the automatic backtacking, integrated clearly visible operation display and sewing equipment for light to medium-weight material belong to the basic features of the 281 Premium. Besides, an electromagnetic sewing foot lift is also optionally available with the machine. The Class 281 will be launched in the beginning of 2008.
