ZimTrade, a joint venture partnership amid the private sector and the Government of Zimbabwe, formed to assist businesses in Zimbabwe is set to develop and expand into profitable international trade in products and services. ZimTrade is planning to revive the clothing and textile industry, which in recent years has declined drastically. Sithembile Pilime, CEO of ZimTrade said, “The clothing and textile industry need to be reinstated to its glory days when Zimbabwe exported products in vast amounts to the European Union, SADC and the United States.” In September this year, the organization launched the ‘cotton to clothing strategy’ that will continue till 2019 with a key objective of working towards restoring the capacity utilization at textile and clothing firms.
