In an effort to regulate and bring in much-needed discipline in the e-commerce sector of Bangladesh, which is in news lately for alleged malpractices and anomalies by many e-commerce players, the Commerce Ministry would launch registration for Unique Business Identification Number or UBIN from the Digital Commerce Cell (DCC), this month.
Speaking to the media, Additional Secretary to the Commerce Ministry Hafizur Rahman, reportedly, maintained that even though no specific launch date has been decided yet, it will surely happen this December he said even if the Commerce Ministry has already sent a report on the final application form and its implementation guidelines to Cabinet Secretary Khandker Anwarul Islam.
Meanwhile, chief of DCC, AHM Shafiquzzaman underlined DCC would implement the UBIN for all f-commerce and e-commerce entities as well as registered companies that are operating in the country, all of which would have to obtain this UBIN to ensure responsible business practices.
