As already reported in the last issue of Industry Wire, the US $ 500 million Group, Opex, which is one of the largest vertically integrated textile companies in Bangladesh has handpicked Thanveer Ahmed who was heading Integra Apparels as President, three months back to lead operations as COO.
On contacting Thanveer, he shared with Apparel Online the reasons for joining a Bangladeshi company at this point of time. “As you know Bangladesh is a great potential country for textiles and apparels in our sub-continent, at least for the next one decade. In India, every day is a new challenge… from bringing down tailor attrition levels to minimizing cost wise. Indian factories are becoming expensive due to wage increase, but the productivity never improves, so factories have become uncompetitive. I felt this was the right time to take the call to move to Bangladesh,” he says.
Thanveer had a stint of about a year with Integra, prior to which he was with Mast Industries in Bangalore for about three years.
