As part of Bangladesh Government’s second round of stimulus packages aimed at accelerating Bangladesh’s economic recovery while also improve the living standards of people living in rural areas and subject to marginal subsistence, the SME Foundation (the Small and Medium Enterprise Foundation) is all set to provide to Cottage, Micro, Small and Medium Entrepreneurs (CMSMEs), another Taka 200 crore in loan.
According to reports, once the revised loan disbursement policy is approved at the next meeting of the board of directors of the SME Foundation, which is scheduled to be held on 2 September, an agreement will be signed with banks and financial institutions even as to ensure credit to genuine small and medium entrepreneurs, half of all borrowers would get less than Taka 20 lakh each, women entrepreneurs at least 30 per cent and SME cluster entrepreneurs 10 per cent of the total loan package of Taka 200 crore.
This was, reportedly, maintained by the Managing Director of the SME Foundation Md. Mofizur Rahman recently in a programme held to exchange views with representatives of financial institutions and banks.
