There’s no denying Bangladesh garment exporters are going through a tough time! Since the outbreak of novel Coronavirus in China, garment makers have been apprehending supply chain disruption.
In the days to come, their worst fears came true as raw material shipment from China took a hit. Now even as things back in China are showing signs of slowly but steadily coming back to normalcy, stares a new challenge on the face.
As per Bangladesh Commerce Minister Tipu Munshi, amidst falling sales due to rapid spread of the dreaded virus globally, some European retailers, especially those based in Italy (the worst affected in Europe by Coronavirus), are mulling cancelling or deferring work orders from Bangladesh.
However, on the positive side, Munshi said the situation has been improving in the supply chain as workers in China have started coming back to factories.
The Commerce Minister shared this while addressing a meeting on consumers’ rights, in capital Dhaka recently.
