SGS, a testing and inspection company, is expanding its reach in Vietnam by opening a new consumer product testing laboratory in Hai Phong to complement the facilities that already exist in Ho Chi Minh City.
The newly inaugurated laboratory is equipped with state-of-the-art facilities to provide physical and restricted substances testing. The testing services cover wide range of products chiefly textiles, apparel and footwear. “With the aim of providing customers with the most convenient, cost-effective and timely services, we decided to establish our second multifunction lab in Hai Phong city – an area with a fast-growing economy and lots of potential for the future,” said Jason Han, Managing Director, SGS Vietnam.

In addition to the Hai Phong laboratory, SGS has also expanded its Ho Chi Minh laboratory with added testing capabilities for footwear among other categories. Both SGS laboratories are today supporting Vietnam’s manufacturing industry by providing closer and faster services to the local manufacturers who seek to comply international regulations in readiness for export.
It is pertinent to mention here that Vietnam is one of the fastest growing export countries. Hai Phong, the third largest city of Vietnam after Ho Chi Minh City and Ha Noi, attracted direct foreign investment of more than US $ 2 billion last year.
