Amidst recent reports that many apparel makers in Bangladesh are witnessing a slump in work orders of late, some of them have expressed concerns over this trend apart from the shooting up of production cost due to various reasons.
Media reports maintained this citing concerned garment makers.
Meanwhile, interacting with the media, the Managing Director of Alps Apparels, Khan Monirul Alam — Alps Apparels basically manufactures garments for European buyers, which started production in Mirpur 30 years ago even if the factory later relocated to Jirabo in Ashulia — reportedly said it has purchase orders to manufacture knit garments for only one and a half months after July.
“We have not received any new orders in the last 20 to 25 days,” reportedly, claimed Monirul, who, however, has work orders up till January in his other manufacturing unit named Fashion.com, which, reportedly, produces shirts for US buyer.
