Underlining after the LDC transition, Bangladesh will cease to enjoy the trade benefits that it currently does, President of the apex garment makers’ body of Bangladesh has called for stepping up diplomatic efforts in major export destinations including USA to boost exports.
BGMEA President Faruque Hassan, reportedly, made this observation while exchanging views with Bangladesh Ambassador to the USA M. Shahidul Islam in Washington DC recently during a lunch organised by the envoy in honour of the BGMEA chair and a delegation of the garment makers’ body, which included BGMEA Vice-President Miran Ali, Director Abdullah Hil Rakib, amongst others.
“…newer challenges will emerge in the post-LDC period as the trade facilities currently being enjoyed will no longer be available. In such context, Bangladesh needs to step up its diplomatic efforts in our major export markets like the USA to create enabling environment to expand trade,” reportedly, stated the BGMEA President.
