
According to the HCMC Municipal Department of Trade and Industry The garment industry in Ho Chi Minh City (HCMC), Vietnam requires additional skilled workers to become a garment supply hub for the southern region and the nation’s fashion centre by 2020. As per the report, HCMC’s industry will need an additional workforce of 19,500 workers by 2015, approximately 500-1000 skilled workers, engineers, technical experts and designers. Under the garment industry development plan, the city aims to increase the industry’s production value by more than VND 37 trillion (US $ 1.7 billion) by 2015, more than 1.5 times higher than in 2010.
