
The significance of enhancing trade and investment relations was highlighted by both Bangladesh and Indonesia, especially through the completion of free trade agreements such as the Preferential Trade Agreement (PTA).
The two countries also emphasised how crucial direct flights are to fostering better people-to-people relations between Jakarta and Dhaka.
The Indonesian ambassador to Bangladesh, Heru Hartanto Subolo, paid a courtesy call to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) and discussed the current issues with Md. Touhid Hossain, the foreign adviser.
The Foreign Adviser stressed the importance of bringing back “visa on arrival” for Bangladeshi nationals travelling to Indonesia, according to the MoFA.
Mentioning the close bilateral connections between Bangladesh and Indonesia, both sides talked about a wide spectrum of bilateral cooperation, including trade and investment, renewable energy, connectivity, and people-to-people interaction.
The Indonesian envoy commended the expansion of commerce and investment between the two countries.
In order to potentially work with Bangladesh on electricity, energy, and energy security, Foreign Advisor Hossain thanked Indonesia.
Both emphasised the strength of the partnership between the countries and provided opportunities for future collaboration in areas where both had something to gain.
