
A delegation of Bangladesh garment makers, which included BGMEA President Faruque Hassan, Executive President of Bangladesh Knitwear Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BKMEA) Mohammad Hatem, President of Employers Federation of Bangladesh (BEF) Ardashir Kabir, BGMEA Vice President Miran Ali, BGMEA Standing Committee Chair on ILO issue ANM Saifuddin and Secretary-General of BEF Farooq Ahmed, recently met senior officials of the International Labour Organisation (ILO) in Geneva.
According to reports, the visiting delegation discussed with ILO officials on a host of issues pertaining to the Bangladesh readymade garment sector.
The discussion also, reportedly, highlighted the progress made by the Bangladesh apparel industry in compliance with ILO conventions ratified by the country even as they also discussed employment injury insurance scheme (for the RMG sector in Bangladesh), while also apprising the ILO about ongoing initiatives and programmes including ILO’s Better Work Programme, aimed at promoting decent working conditions.
