The Dhaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI) — established in 1958 under companies Act 1913, DCCI is the largest and most vibrant business chamber in Bangladesh and its membership consists of industrial conglomerates, manufacturers, importers, exporters and traders mostly of small and medium enterprises — has welcomed the recent endorsement of the country’s (Bangladesh) graduation from the league of the least developed country (LDC) even as it underlined that this recognition was achieved with the frontier and dynamic leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
This was maintained in recent media reports.
The trade body (DCCI) also, reportedly, held that it is an honour for the country as it received this prestigious recognition in the glorious year of golden jubilee of its independence and birth centenary of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and went on to maintain, “Bangladesh, even in the tough time of the coronavirus pandemic, managed to sustain its economic growth and balance the lives and livelihood to a large extent. The very timely initiative of the Government to rescue the pandemic-affected businesses through stimulus incentives was appreciated by all…”
It may be mentioned here that the United Nations Committee for Development Policy or UNCDP has recently recommended Bangladesh’s graduation from LDC, which, reportedly, followed after the second triennial review of the LDC category of UNCDP.
