Amidst reports of emergence of a new variant of Coronavirus, which have, reportedly, led around 8-10 countries in Europe to impose restrictions again, garment makers in Bangladesh apprehend it could result in a slowdown of apparel export, which has been on rebound of late.
…we are concerned about the possibility that buyers could put their orders on hold, reportedly, expressed apprehensions BGMEA Vice-President Shahidullah Azim speaking to the media while adding garment exporters were closely monitoring the developments as Europe is their major export destination.
Meanwhile, the World Health Organisation, has declared a newly-detected Covid variant namely Omicron, as “variant of concern” even as many European countries have already imposed new restrictions to contain its spread.
“…buyers have been putting pressure on us to ship goods quickly, but now they are asking us to slow down our production,” reportedly, further claimed Shahidullah Azim while interacting with the media.
