
With an aim to make some space so as to avoid container congestion while also considering the safety and security aspect, the Chittagong Customs has decided to auction around 49 lots of apparel-related products, chemicals, machinery and different types of accessories and electronics, worth around Taka 16.5 crore soon.
Media reports claimed this citing Chittagong Custom House Deputy Commissioner (Auction) Ali Reza Hayder in this direction.
The above-mentioned items have been lying in the customs house for a long time thereby occupying huge amount of space.
Speaking to the media, Ali Reza Hayder, reportedly, maintained that the auction will take place on 2 December while adding amongst the items to be auctioned are chemicals like aluminium powder and cyclohexanone, sulphuric acid, textile chemicals apart from RMG fabric, new capital machinery, etc., even as he underlined the concerned authorities decided to auction the goods keeping in mind the safety of the custom house as well as to reduce container jam.
