Apprising it was now providing 24/7 service to discharge containers, the Chittagong Port Authority or CPA has called upon importers to take quicker delivery of import-laden containers from private off-docks as well as the port yards even as it requested the Chittagong Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCCI) to take steps so that businesses take container deliveries on Friday, Saturday, Sunday as well as the Government holidays, like normal office days.
Media reports maintained this while adding the CPA has written a letter to the CCCI President in this regard recently wherein it has underlined CPA’s efforts to streamline export-import operations at the port and its focus on avoiding container tailbacks.
With reference to the same, the CPA, reportedly, requested the CCCI to quickly take delivery of all import-laden containers, to which the CCCI President Mahbubul Alam, reportedly, maintained that ‘there is no alternative to taking container delivery promptly’.
We will request all businesses to take speedy delivery of containers to avoid any possible backlog at the port, reportedly, assured the CCCI President.
