
The Ishwardi Export Processing Zone (EPZ) is all set to witness an investment of around US $ 8.7 million from Chinese entity IHM Garments and Textile Company Limited, with the view to establishing a new garment manufacturing unit.
As per reports, concerned officials of the IHM Garments and Textile Company Limited and Bangladesh Export Processing Zones Authority (BEPZA), signed an agreement to this end in Dhaka’s BEPZA Complex recently, in which Ali Reza Mazid, a Member (Investment Promotion) of BEPZA, and Yu Binbin, Chairman of IHM Company represented the respective sides to sign the agreement.
This fully foreign-owned entity is expected to produce around 10.6 million pieces of knit tops and pants and 2.6 million pieces of woven tops for ladies, kids, and men annually besides creating employment opportunities for around 2,457 Bangladeshi nationals.
The signing ceremony was reportedly attended by the Executive Chairman of BEPZA, Major General Abul Kalam Mohammad Ziaur Rahman, ndc, psc.
