
Amidst rising fears among the Bangladesh apparel exporters on Coronavirus’ adverse impact on the garment manufacturing sector of the country and its garment exports, the entrepreneurs have called upon the Government to put in place an action plan to help counter Coronavirus’ effects on Bangladesh’s commerce and economy.
“The Finance Minister should immediately sit with the stakeholders, including the private sector, to outline an action plan,” reportedly underlined Mir Nasir Hossain, former President, the Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI), recently, interacting with the media.
It may be mentioned here that apparel exporters are in panic in the apprehension of the adverse impact of the Coronavirus outbreak that has now assumed global proportions.
A recent report of the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) underlined that the impact of Coronavirus on the Bangladesh’s textiles and apparels could be to the tune of US $ 1 million, while for the leather and leather goods industry, it would be a whopping US $ 15 million.
