
The apex garment makers’ body in Bangladesh, the Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA), has recently inked a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with AAFA or the American Apparel and Footwear Association to reinstate GSP status in the American market.
Media reports maintained this adding BGMEA President Faruque Hassan and AAFA President and CEO Steve Lamar signed the MoU between the two organisations in Washington, DC during the annual AAFA Executive Summit.
Reports further added, as per the MoU, AAFA will support Bangladesh in promoting its trade interests in the US market, especially advocating the withdrawal of GSP suspension to recognise the progress made in the local industry in areas of workplace safety, worker well-being and environmental sustainability.
