
Bangladesh’s apex garment makers’ body, the Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA), has sought Spanish investment in non-cotton and technical textiles consequent to demand for MMF-based apparel items rising by the day.
Media reports maintained this adding BGMEA President Faruque Hassan made this call during a meeting with the Spanish Ambassador to Bangladesh Francisco de Asís Benítez Salas, when the Spanish envoy visited the office of the garment makers’ body in capital Dhaka to meet with the BGMEA leader.
The BGMEA President further, reportedly, sought Spanish support and cooperation through extension of transition period for smoother graduation from the league of the least developed countries (LDCs).
At the said meeting which was also attended by the BGMEA Vice-President Shahidullah Azim, Francisco de Asís Benítez Salas discussed areas of cooperation even as he lauded the progress made by the Bangladesh garment industry.
