
Appreciating the timely, bold and focussed support from the Government, which helped the garment industry to effectively handle the pandemic’s fallouts and make a strong turnaround, BGMEA President Faruque Hassan called for befitting policy support going forward, which he underlined, will be crucial towards addressing the future challenges and unlocking potentials of the Bangladesh apparel industry.
According to media reports, the BGMEA President came up with the observations during a recent meeting with Cabinet Secretary Khandker Anwarul Islam, in which was also present BGMEA Vice-Presidents Md. Nasir Uddin and Shahidullah Azim and Secretary General of BGMEA Md. Faizur Raham.
During the meeting, the garment makers’ body, reportedly, apprised the Cabinet Secretary about the current status of the apparel industry and its future priorities to cope up with changing trends in the global market even as issues pertaining to graduation of Bangladesh from LDC and its possible implications on export-oriented trade and preparedness to face the challenges also featured during the discussion.
