
Faruque Hassan, the President of BGMEA, which is the apex garment makers’ body in Bangladesh, has called upon US-based buyers and brands to source more from Bangladesh including high-end and non-cotton apparel products.
As per media reports, the BGMEA President made this call while the CEO of Tailor Vintage (Tailor Vintage is a renowned apparel brand in the US) Richard Rosenthal called on Faruque Hassan at the BGMEA’s Gulshan-based office in capital Dhaka recently even as he said that Bangladesh has earned global recognition and has become a preferred sourcing destination amongst global buyers on the back of unprecedented strides that the apparel sector has made in terms of sustainability, safety and social compliance, while also highlighting the future priorities of the industry, especially increased focus on non-cotton and high-end product segment.
Faruque Hassan, during the meeting with Richard Rosenthal, in which was also present Tailor Vintage Bangladesh Country Manager and BGMEA Vice-Presidents Mohammed Yusuf Ali Khan and Miran Ali, also requested the CEO of Tailor Vintage to share the positive developments about Bangladesh apparel industry in the US.
