The leaders of Bangladesh’s apex garment makers’ body BGMEA have called upon the Government to enhance the capacity of Chittagong Port, the principal sea port of the country and responsible for handling bulk of export-import including apparel shipments.
“…timely shipment of products is very important in order to maintain the growth, which necessitates enhancing the port’s capacity and efficiency,” reportedly, said BGMEA President Faruque Hassan during a recent meeting with Chairman of Chittagong Port Authority (CPA) Rear Admiral M. Shahjahan.
At the said meeting were, reportedly, present BGMEA First Vice President Syed Nazrul Islam, Vice Presidents Khandoker Rafiqul Islam, Md. Nasir Uddin, Shahidullah Azim, Rakibul Alam Chowdhury, Directors AM Shafiul Karim (Khokon), Abdullah Hil Rakib, Md. Hassan (Jacky) and M. Ahsanul Hoq, Ambassador and Head of Delegation of European Union (EU) to Bangladesh Charles Whiteley, Ambassador of Italy to Bangladesh Enrico Nunziata, amongst others.
