To strengthen bilateral cooperation in trade, investment and knowledge exchange between Bangladesh and Canada, the Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) and Bangladesh Business Chamber of Canada (BBCC) have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU).
Besides promoting business partnerships and new market opportunities, both organisations, under the new agreement, will work together to build stronger communication and networking channels between their members.
The two organisations want to organise trade shows in Bangladesh and Canada, host business delegations and advertise Bangladeshi clothing and textile goods in Canada and other North American markets, according to a BGMEA statement.
Additionally, the partnership will concentrate on capacity building, assisting professionals and businesses in increasing their competitiveness through initiatives for skill development, training and knowledge exchange.
Both BGMEA and BBCC agreed to share information, policies and research on global market trends and to encourage joint ventures and partnerships between businesses in the two countries.
Mahmud Hasan Khan, President, BGMEA and Alamgir M Rahman, President, Bangladesh Business Chamber of Canada (BBCC) signed the MoU at the BGMEA headquarters in Dhaka.
Speaking at the signing ceremony, Mahmud Hasan Khan said, “This MoU with BBCC will help us tap into the potential of the Canadian and North American markets. Our goal is to further strengthen the economic ties between Bangladesh and Canada through enhanced trade, investment and knowledge sharing.”
In preparation for its impending LDC graduation and to strengthen ties with high-value markets like Canada, Bangladesh is looking to expand its export markets and product line.
