Appreciating the suggestions put forth by the German experts to further enhance the trade and commerce between Germany and Bangladesh, Bangladesh Commerce Minister Tipu Munshi said Bangladesh welcomes German business ventures to set up units in country’s special economic zones (SEZs).
Addressing a recent BGCCI-organised (Bangladesh-German Chamber of Commerce and Industry) webinar on ‘Prospect or Problem? Post Covid-19 Economic Relations between Bangladesh & Germany’ as the chief guest, Tipu Munshi said this.
Taking part in the event, the President of the Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA), Dr. Rubana Huq, reportedly, expressed hope that German companies would invest in the manmade fibres (MMF) business as this sector is growing rapidly and called upon German investors to invest in the polyester staple fibre while adding that post June 2020, Germany is the only country where Bangladesh grew, and the majority of the export was MMF-based products even as Bangladesh Ambassador in Germany Mosharraf Hossain Bhuiyan, on his part, said that Germany is the largest export destination of Bangladesh in Europe.
Mosharraf also mentioned about UBF’s (a German garments manufacturing company) allotment of land at Adamjee EPZ by the facilitation of the Bangladesh Embassy in Germany, so as to set up a manufacturing unit there while adding as the coronavirus situation eases, the Embassy will welcome the BGCCI delegation and added that there was immense opportunity to grow business between Bangladesh and Germany.
