Bangladesh registered export amounting to US $ 3.83 billion for the month of May, which is 23.24 per cent higher than the amount of US $ 3.10 billion of May last year, even if the export receipts couldn’t surpass the US $ 3.89 billion target set for the month.
Media reports maintained this citing data released by the country’s Export Promotion Bureau (EPB).
Meanwhile, apparel shipments, reportedly, stumbled to US $ 3.15 billion in May, which was, reportedly, the lowest earning in the last nine months.
“Due to Eid, holiday apparel shipments were a little lower in May,” reportedly, underlined the Managing Director of Plummy Fashions Ltd., Fazlul Hoque, speaking to media while the Chairman of Envoy Textile Ltd., Kutubuddin Ahmed, on his part, added apparel export might face some cancellations and deferred shipments in the coming days as stores are facing a decline in sales.
