
Reiterating the need for austerity during a recent meeting with Awami League’s organising secretaries, Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has assured the Government will lower the increased fuel prices, effected recently, as soon as the global market stabilises.
As business in Bangladesh, including the apparel makers, continue to struggle with the same following significant increase in input costs, Hasina, reportedly, stated, “I have given orders. Whenever the price of oil decreases in the global market, we will make immediate adjustments.”
It may be mentioned here as the war in Ukraine made oil more expensive in the global market, Bangladesh responded by raising fuel prices by as much as 51 per cent to meet the additional costs.
