The small and medium enterprises (SMEs), located outside the export processing zones (EPZs) in Bangladesh, the numbers of which are said to be in millions, are hit hard by the current scheduled load shedding.
Media reports maintained this while adding the ones that are housed within the EPZs and industrial belts have so far been largely kept out of the purview of regulated power cuts.
Since these SMEs depend on costly diesel to keep the operations going, those that are running operations during the load shedding are now facing increased cost of production.
