
The Bangladesh Government is likely to appoint a Saudi Arabian company as the operator for the Patenga Container Terminal (PCT) even if sources have affirmed the Government has already started working with a Saudi entity to examine whether it can be appointed to operate the newly-built PCT.
This is as per reports, which added a Red Sea Gateway Terminal (RSGT) delegation which has arrived this week has met with high officials of the Ministry of Shipping and the Public Private Partnership Authority (PPPA) and the Prime Minister’s Office, to get a first-hand idea about the investment situation in the PCT.
Reports further added the foreign company will operate the terminal if everything progresses in accordance.
It may be mentioned here the terminal has been set up at an investment of US$ 240 million, under the Government-to-Government (G2G) PPP modality.
