Bangladesh’s garment makers’ body, the Bangladesh Knitwear Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BKMEA), has underlined the recent fuel price hike is going to hit production process of the knitwear sector adversely.
A statement issued by the BKMEA in this direction recently has expressed apprehensions the industry might lose its competitive edge on the global market on account of the same.
The BKMEA in its statement signed by its President AKM Salim Osman maintained it was shocked at the Government’s move to hike fuel rates when oil prices in the international market are on a downward trend even as the garment makers’ body urged the Government to raise the rate of cash assistance urgently for a limited term to support the ongoing development of the knitwear industry.
