As per Commerce Minister Tipu Munshi, the Government has been working to develop 10 sectors in the country so that each of those can earn US $ 1 billion through exports within the next couple of years.
This, the reports claimed citing the Commerce Minister while adding of the 10, four have already crossed the US $ 1-billion mark so far even in if for instance apart from readymade apparels, export earnings from jute and jute goods and leather and leather products have already crossed the exceeded US $ 1 billion mark.
Commerce Minister Tipu Munshi reportedly claimed this recently at a press briefing to mark the inauguration of the 27th Dhaka International Trade Fair (DITF).
It may be mentioned here the Commerce Ministry and the Export Promotion Bureau have been organising the DITF since 1995.
