Flag bearer for the change in AEPC (Apparel Export Promotion Council), Rajiv Kapoor, MD, Affordable Exports, New Delhi is contesting for the first time in the elections for EC (Executive Committee). Sharing his agenda prior elections, Rajiv informs Apparel Resources, “I shall work to use the scarce resources of the AEPC for fruitful export promotion activities. Curbing the wasteful expenditure in AEPC seen by many of you in various exhibitions, which goes on unabated presently for providing unnecessary deputation of heavy delegations/coordinators.”
Another agenda that Rajiv has is to stop the payment of commissions to GEA (Garment Exporters Association), AEMA (Apparel Exporters & Manufacturers’ Association), CMAI (Clothing Manufacturers Association of India), GEAR (Garment Exporters Association of Rajasthan), etc., so that these ‘rent-seeking’ organizations don’t flourish like parasites at garment exporter’s cost. This would reduce the cost of stalls at ITPO by up to Rs. 1,500 per sq. m.

He also assures making the Apparel House, Gurgaon (Head office of AEPC) most important global hub for importer/exporter-activities, and to bring professionals in AEPC to carry out export promotion activities and weed out retired lot of corrupt/inefficient sycophants in AEPC, who are serving their masters and not the trade.
Elections/AGM of AEPC is on 18th December and this is first time ever that EVS (Electronic Voting System) is applicable for voting in AEPC.
