The apex garment makers’ body in Bangladesh, the Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA), on priority basis, has reportedly sought 10,000 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine for its members and their families.
According to media reports, the traders’ body, reportedly, wrote a letter to Beximco Pharmaceuticals Limited recently in this direction, requesting it to provide vaccines for around 10,000 people, which include BGMEA’s registered members and their respective families.
The BGMEA, reportedly, maintained that the garment makers were running their respective units risking their lives to run the wheel of the economy while underlining that its members need the health safety protection on priority basis.
The letter further underlined since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic the garment industry has been going through a very tough time even as many of the factory owners have been infected with coronavirus while some even succumbed to it.
