With an aim to enable existing and potential Alibaba.com users in the country with better access to business-to-business (B2B) trade opportunities in the vast global market, leading platform for B2B trade Alibaba.com has recently launched ‘Project Sprout Up’, a landmark initiative to help businesses in Bangladesh go online and global, as per media reports.
This is reportedly part of the Alibaba Group’s broader 2020 Spring Thunder initiative aimed at helping the small and mid-size enterprises (SMEs) survive and flourish via digitalisation in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic.
According to a press communique issued by the company in this regard, the project will help SMEs in Bangladesh to establish global reach by faster onboarding on Alibaba.com platform, get access to customised training programmes and design solutions to accelerate business growth while also deepen their online capabilities.
Unlike retailers who adopted e-commerce more instinctively, most B2B businesses are still to understand the potential of this space, reportedly stated General Manager of Alibaba.com, Zhang Kuo, while underlining that Bangladesh is already recognised in terms of apparel and textile exports and entities can further accelerate their businesses through global B2B trade before going on to add that Alibaba.com will help lower the barriers to entry for SMEs looking to kickstart/accelerate their online B2B trade operations.
