
The operations of unloading and loading import and export goods at Payra Port’s first terminal are scheduled to commence by 31st October even as Rear Admiral Golam Sadeq, the Chairman of Payra Port, recently inspected the First Terminal and Related Facilities Development Project area to take stock of things.
Following his visit, Chairman Sadeq announced that an invitation would be extended to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to inaugurate the first terminal of Payra Port in October while Azizur Rahman, Deputy Director of Payra Port Authority, confirmed that the construction work on the ship dockyard with a jetty at the first terminal has already been completed and is set to open for goods unloading and loading.
Additionally, the construction of a 100,000-square-foot open yard and a 100,000-square-foot warehouse is expected to be finalized within the first week of October.
The first terminal at Payra Port spans approximately 650 meters, featuring three ship dockyards, each measuring 200 meters, three jetties, and three open yards, each covering 100,000 square feet.
These facilities are slated for completion by December 2023. Furthermore, work is in progress on a backup yard.
Payra Port, located in Patuakhali and designated as the country’s third seaport, was established under the Payra Port Authority Act 2013.
