The 11 RMG units, with which Alliance has severed ties on charge of failure to make adequate remediation progress, are Vintage Print & Arrow Labels, Asif Apparels Ltd. and Indigo Washing Ltd. (from Gazipur); Anzir Apparels Limited (Unit-1) and Samia Garments Ltd. (from Savar); Friends and Friends Apparels Ltd., Intex Link Garments (BD) Ltd. and Valiant Garments (from Chittagong); and Elate Fashion Ltd., So Nice Garments (PVT) Ltd. and Starlight Knitwear Ltd. (from Dhaka).
With these 11, the total number of factories suspended by the Alliance reached 42. According to Alliance, the 11 factories with which it has cut business ties have reportedly failed to make adequate remediation progress and provide evidence of remediation. It also said that some of the factories have failed to attend a remediation escalation round table, besides their alleged failure to provide evidence to comply with the Alliance pre-approval process.
“The factories have been suspended from the Alliance compliant factory list because of their lack of progress in one or more Alliance programmes, thereby failing to make progress in ensuring a safe working environment,” a statement issued by Alliance said, adding, “‘If suspended factories wish to re-establish participation in the Alliance process, they will need to undergo a new inspection at their own cost.”

It may be mentioned here that recently the buyers’ body cut business relations with AMC Sweater Ltd, Darda Knit Wears Ltd., Maggie and Liz Corporation (PVT) Ltd, Maks Fashion Ltd. and Montex Apparels Ltd.
According to Alliance, relations with four factories have been suspended on grounds of failure to comply with the Government-set review panel’s recommendations while the fifth one faced the Alliance axe for its alleged failure in making adequate progress in remediation work.
