Notwithstanding the fact significant work orders are coming in lately, Bangladesh garment makers are facing challenges in making the best of the new opportunities due to shortage of manpower.
Media reports maintained this citing the industry insiders.
“…we have many orders but we cannot expand due to a shortage of workers,” reportedly, claimed General Manager at Maasco Group, Shahin Mohammad speaking to the media even as Vice-President of the Bangladesh Knitwear Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BKMEA) Fazlee Shamim Ehsan on his part, reportedly, said, “Plenty of garment work orders are coming in Bangladesh, but we can’t grab those mainly because of a shortage of workers….”
It may be mentioned here that Bangladesh is witnessing a surge in new work orders even as the industry people attributed the same to reopening of the economies globally, shifting of work orders from China, Vietnam and Cambodia.
