Urmi Group has further advanced its renewable energy agenda by signing a Memorandum of Understanding to install a 126 kWp rooftop solar photovoltaic system at UHM Limited under the Swisscontact InSPIRE Project.
The agreement was signed by Shamarukh Fakhruddin, Director of Urmi Group, and Naznin Akther, Director – Business Development at SOLARIC Ltd, formalising the collaboration to implement the on-site solar installation.
With the addition of this project, Urmi Group continues to expand its renewable energy capacity across its operations. The group currently operates 3.7 MWp of installed solar capacity and has set a target to reach a total of 8.18 MWp in subsequent phases.
According to the company, the rooftop solar system at UHM Limited is expected to reduce reliance on grid electricity, lower operational energy costs and deliver measurable reductions in carbon emissions through on-site power generation. The initiative forms part of Urmi Group’s wider sustainability strategy, which focuses on energy efficiency, renewable energy integration and climate-resilient manufacturing practices.
Urmi Group said it acknowledged the support of Swisscontact through the InSPIRE Project and appreciated the technical collaboration of SOLARIC Global in advancing renewable energy solutions within the textile and apparel sector.
