There are reports of workers’ resentment following delay in receiving their salary for the previous month, which has sort of led to insecurity amongst many apparel workers.
The country’s apex garment makers’ body, the Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA), to quell the fears among the workers, has said that many factories have already paid the workers’ wages and those that are yet to do so, would do the needful by 16 April.
Now, to ensure that the wages are paid on time, keep the labour situation normal and ensure safety and security of the workers and staff members of all the industries, the country’s Labour Ministry has decided to form crisis management committees.
The committees have been formed with the field level officials of Department of Labour and the Department of Inspection for Factories and Establishments and industry owners and workers’ representatives of the concerned areas.
