
According to a recent study, investing in water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) for the employees has helped reduce absenteeism in the apparel manufacturing units in Bangladesh by 15 per cent.
This is as per the findings of the study revealed recently in two reports titled, ‘Boosting business: why investing in water, sanitation and hygiene pays off.’
Not just absenteeism, investment in WASH, reportedly, improved punctuality by 5 per cent and helped decrease attrition by 2 per cent.
The study further underlined when garment factories make WASH investment, their overall business thrives, productivity increases, health, morale and loyalty improve and staff turnover lowers, thereby driving business profits.
