Daniel Seidl, a German author, has underlined that Bangladeshi garment factories were one of the safest workplaces in the world.
According to media reports, Daniel maintained this for the developments recommended by foreign inspection and remediation platforms Accord and Alliance during the recent launch of his book ‘Celebrating 50 years of Bangladesh’ in Dhaka even as he shared his experience of staying and working in Bangladesh before and after the Rana Plaza building collapse while adding that on the eve of Rana Plaza building collapse, he was the Executive Director of the Bangladesh-German Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BGCCI), and was leading a big German business delegation in Dhaka to highlight the country’s economic transformation even if due to the accident the following morning, the German buyers sought to withdraw their business from Bangladesh even if Daniel, reportedly, urged them not to do so as Bangladesh had already invested significantly in the RMG sector and the retailers and brands had also benefitted from the competitive prices and the quality of products made in Bangladesh.
Titled ‘Brand Ambassador of Bangladesh’ by the Ministry of Commerce for promoting and branding Bangladesh, Daniel in his book, reportedly, described vividly the development and transformation of Bangladesh that had to fight hard for its liberty, emerging from the struggle for independence to become a global manufacturing hub.
