Even as dengue continues to surge in Bangladesh with around 1,573 people diagnosed with the mosquito-borne disease during July, the apex garment makers’ body in Bangladesh, the Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association or BGMEA, has recently issued 10-point guidelines for its members to follow in order to prevent chikungunya and dengue.
Media reports maintained this while adding the President of the garment makers’ body, Faruque Hassan, has called upon the garment factory owners, employees, workers and their family members concerned to clean their households for 10 minutes at 10 AM every Saturday, so as to prevent the spread of the mosquito-borne diseases even as ex-BGMEA President and current Mayor of Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) Md. Atiqul Islam has requested the city dwellers to undertake cleaning of their households every Saturday.
As per reports, even if Bangladesh continues to still grapple with the COVID-19 pandemic, health experts have, reportedly, expressed concern that this rainy season, dengue outbreak could take a severe turn if proper precautionary measures were not undertaken.
